Top Secret 5 Generations Sugar Cookie Recipe

shhhh....! TOP SECRET!

Ingredients
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup softened butter (2 sticks)
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 heaping spoon vanilla

Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

Add in butter until crumbly -- you can use a food processor for this step. Set aside.

Place eggs in large mixer bowl. Beat at medium-high, gradually adding sugar and vanilla, until thick and lemon-colored (2 minutes).

Reduce speed to low; add flour mixture and mix well enough to incorporate flour mixture. Turn out onto floured board and separate into two or three FLAT disks that will be ready to roll after the chill for at least 1 hour.

Heat oven to 350. Roll out dough on lightly floured surface (one disk at a time keeping remaining dough in fridge), to 1/4 thickness (or thicker!)

Place cookie trees, santas, reindeer, etc. an inch apart on lightly greased sheets or use ungreased parchment paper. You may decorate some or all with sprinkles. Bake 8-10 minutes and cool on racks before decorating.

Frosting
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons softened butter
  • 1 pasteurized egg white (or milk or cream)
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • Food coloring
You'll need to double or triple these recipes!

Merry Christmas to all!!
